ME:
A vegetarian almost since birth. Animal-lover. Everyone thinks I'm a cat fanatic but really, I'd love to have lizards. And snakes. And aquariums full of awesome fish in every room. And also a baby Velociraptor. Sure, they grow up, but so do cute puppy pit bulls. And obnoxious relatives.
I started out as a sculptor of fantasy & sci-fi figures, loved "seeing" a face or a hand or a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth in a blob of clay and bringing it to life. But when I developed serious sensitivity to the materials, it was time to move on to a different creative endeavor. Since Circe de Soleil didn't need anyone at that moment, I gave writing a shot.
Actually, I'd been written fiction purely for my own enjoyment (and generally a sure thing "A" in school) since grammar school, but it was so ordinary a thing to me that it hadn't occurred to me to consider it as a career choice.
I've lived on the East Coast almost all my life, the Northern half -- freezing in the winter, sweltering in the summer -- but if I sell my first novel to every human being on the planet, I'll be able to afford Hawaii. I'm basically a city dweller who'd rather be on a deserted island; albeit, one with cable TV and wifi. And pizza delivery.
I grew up reading classic science fiction because I have two older brothers who collected old paperbacks, and I snatched them. Then I tried Stephen King and Dean Koontz and horror was on my radar. And when I read "Red Dragon" by Thomas Harris, I was fascinated by crime and forensics and catching the bad guy, and gobbled up as many books in that genre as I could get my hands on. Thus, I'm now an eventually-to-be-self-pubbed crime-thriller/science fiction/horror writer. That's the cool thing about self-publishing. My style? Eclectic. And that's the way I like it.
